New York Craft Cannabis Cup 2021: Judges Edition (Day 7)

We’re BACK for Day 7 of our New York Craft Cannabis Cup – Judges Edition. What an AMAZING day I had Today! It’s my second to last day judging this awesome competition and I must say I’ve had a ball thus far. I know I said yesterday was one of my favorite days judging, well let’s add Today to that list also😆! As a reminder, I’ll be blind reviewing 16 different strain samples.  They won’t have any labels so I’ll be going off appearance, aroma, flavor, and effect.  Since my scores will need to remain secret, I won’t be revealing my favorite strain until after the event.  Also, there are 16 different strains that I will need to review by September 23rd (judges’ results are due), so I will be reviewing 2 strain samples per day. 😋

Strain Sample #2

Now, let’s pick back up from where we left off yesterday! Today I decided to go with strain samples #2 and #13.💨

The first strain that I started off with Today was Sample #2 🔎

Appearance – 🤯Hands down, one of the most beautiful strain samples that I’ve come across during this competition. UGH, the colors😍! This strain sample was a beautiful mix of deep purple and bright green with flaming orange hairs. This strain sample definitely set the standard very high for this competition. When I tell you the trichomes were GLISTENING baby😍. They looked like tiny crystals sprinkled all over. Beautiful manicure/trim with a nice spongy feel. OMG, the colors were so vibrant and the trichomes were glistening even more once I ground this baby up.

Aroma: Nothing too overbearing, however, I did get a very faint sweet smell when I gave the strain sample a whiff. After I grounded her up, I could smell the sweet aroma a little more, however it was still very faint.

Flavor: I was extremely pleased with the taste of this strain sample. I enjoyed the smoke when I inhaled and exhaled. This was actually a very yummy strain sample if I must say!😍 Similar to yesterday, I enjoyed this strain so much I didn’t even bother to try it with any of my flavored rolling papers.

Effects: The hits were smooth but had some serious KICK 🦵🏽 to them. Let me tell you, this strain sample had me in SPACE🚀. I was super relaxed and laid back while floating😩. I was able to get some laundry done and run some quick errands. However, soon as I got home Mr. Sandman paid me a quick visit.

Next up is Sample #13 🔎 –

Appearance – Pretty decent-looking strain sample. Deep green color with orange hairs lightly spread throughout. A very light spread of trichomes, however, there was a slight sparkle to them (once you looked closely👀). Very nice spongy feel wasn’t too dry. I wasn’t too impressed with the manicure/trim. Once grounded up the green did become a bit more vibrant but nothing too crazy.

Aroma: At first when I opened the pop-top and took the strain sample out, I got a very faint smell but couldn’t tell what it was. Once I ground her up, the pine aroma hit me instantly. It was like the aroma was trapped inside of the nugget 🤣.

Flavor: There was a decent taste when I inhaled and exhaled. Nothing to really brag about tho. The taste definitely matched the aroma. I ended up smoking this strain with my Juicy Jays Pineapple rolling papers (hey I kept it in the pine family 🤣🤣🤣), the fruity flavor definitely helped with the taste.

Effects: The hits were nice but they were not that hard. I did however get a pretty decent high. I was a bit more focused than relaxed, but I was feeling a little wavy. I got some last-minute work done since my nap earlier set me back a bit 😩, then I was able to watch some TV and relax.

Well, that’s it for Day 7 of my New York Craft Cannabis Cup reviews, Tomorrow is our FINAL day! I can’t wait to see how we end this amazing competition. I’m off to go record my scores for these two strains and get ready for bed. Have a great night Canna-Fam!
