In 1997 or 1998, I found a VHS of a blaxploitation film called ‘The Mack’; I watched it and fell in love instantly. Now at the time, I had no idea who Max Julien was; however, I did know who Richard Pryor was.
As a young teenager got ready to watch this classic and knew Richard Pryor would steal the show. Little did I know that I would instantly fall in love with Max Julien’s character Pimp Goldie aka The Mack. Sh*t, I won’t lie, I forgot Richard Pryor was in the movie a few times 😩. Goldie’s laid-back, smooth-talking, well-dressed, handsome personality won me over.🤩
Without a doubt, almost every pimp in America is heartbroken today! This movie was the foundation and guidebook for many of them.
Pimp in Heaven Goldie💔 Below is a clip of my favorite part and line from the movie: “You know the game, yo b*tch chose me”.
Side-note: this movie is the reason I’ve alway wanted to attend a Player’s Ball 😩
